Sors sur la lande et guette au vent
Un oiseau à l'aile funèbre,
Bec et serres rouges de sang.
Ne regarde ni çà ni là,
Mais suis son chemin par les airs
Et, s'il s'abat dans la bruyère,
Voyageur, agenouille-toi.
Quel sort, là-bas, t'attend peut-être,
Je ne veux, je n'ose le dire,
Mais le Ciel entend mes prières
Et Dieu est merci : qu'il te garde !
